North Carolina

BELL piloted its first summer learning program in North Carolina in 2009 at the invitation of a middle school in Charlotte. In 2011, BELL received a Social Innovation Fund grant from the Corporation for National and Community Service and the Edna McConnell Clark Foundation to further expand its summer learning programs in the state. In 2012, BELL was invited by Project L.I.F.T. in Charlotte and Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools to expand learning time in the summer.  Later that year, BELL launched its after school program with Project L.I.F.T.

This year, we continue to expand learning time in the summer and after school in Charlotte and Winston-Salem.  We continue to partner with Project L.I.F.T and Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools, as well as with A Child's Place, First Presbyterian Church, and several additional schools in Charlotte.  We welcome opportunities to form new partnerships with schools and communities throughout the state.
