NEW YORK - For kids, summer is all about having fun and taking a long break from teachers and books. But because they are out of school, it's also the time of year kids forget a lot of what they've learned.

Experts say summer learning loss affects nearly every single child. But programs and ways to reduce summer learning loss do exisit.

Tim Coleman, the Deputy Director for Community and School Partnerships at BELL (Building Educated Leaders for Life), spoke with Good Day New York Wednesday about these programs.

This summer 2,000 New York City scholars will participate in BELL's summer learning experience.
